Since the beginning of 2009, The "Institute of Geological and Mineral Exploration" (I.G.M.E.) in collaboration with the "Laboratory of Internet Applications" (NETLAB) of the department of Electronics of the "Technological Educational Institute" of Athens went on the update, constant support and development of new services derived from the operation of the "Penteli Geomagnetic Observatory".

The observatory of Penteli operates a fluxgate (DMI) and an Overhauser (POS1) magnetometer since 1999. In the year 2009 I.G.M.E., in collaboration with NETLAB, installed a GEM GSM90 dIdD Magnetometer in parallel operation with the DMI Magnetometer.

The microcomputer that serves telemetry is based on embedded Linux OS and add-on software developed by P. Kapiris and it is responsible for data collection, management and transmission to Internet servers. Real time transmission is also supported. Further software is also developed for data post-processing and analysis.
